Theatre

Sacred Heart School for the Arts offers classes designed to teach the basic concepts of acting and theatre through age-appropriate exercises and games. Students of all ages develop the three basic tools of the actor: voice, body, and imagination.
As a performance-based school, all students can participate in full-length, staged productions that are performed at the SHSA Recital Hall or our historic 500-seat auditorium, the Ursuline Arts Center. Our youngest acting students produce a showcase at the end of each semester. We believe participation in these productions helps the students cultivate their creativity, develop value in practice and perseverance, and advance in teamwork and leadership skills.
Sacred Heart School for the Arts teaches every actor to take center stage!
Fall 2026 Class Registration opens July 15.

Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express
Please come prepared with a one minute monologue that shows us some of what you can do as a character.
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on Detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer - in case he or she decides to strike again.

Sacred Heart Academy’s (SHA) Production of Footloose
Come prepared with a monologue that shows us your ability to create a character (1 minute); and 1 minute of a Broadway song in a similar style to the style of Footloose. Please also come prepared to learn a small choreo combination.
When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people while guiding them with a warm heart and open mind.
Auditions (SHA girls only) with the exception that auditions are open to Boys in grades 9-12.
